Abstract
Brunner's gland adenomas are rarely accounted for in clinical practice, representing 10% of benign tumors of the duodenum. They are an infrequent cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding and duodenal obstruction, but many patients with Brunner's
bland
adenomas remain asymptomatic. It seams, because of their essentially benign nature, to have dominating relationships to the functional activity of the gland rather than to a true neoplastic mechanism. Surgical treatment is probable indicated
whenever
the condition gives rise to symptoms. Althogh it was varied from local excision of polyp to resection of duodenum in the past, transduodenal polypectomy gave good results in all cases. But endoscopic polypectomy is recently employed in many
instances
and its diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy has been documented.
We report a case of a 60-year-old man with a large Brunner's gland adenoma that was resected through gastrotomy.
